TSC Reserves 5% of the Recruitment slots For teachers with Disabilities

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has urged all county directors to ensure that 5 % of the vacancies that was recently  advertised are set aside for the recruitment of teachers with disabilities.

“The Commission shall ensure that 5% of all the advertised slots are reserved for the recruitment of teachers with disabilities in accordance to the provisions of Constitution and the Law,”  read a statement from the commission.

This affirmative action is a step taken by the employer to make sure that all candidates, regardless of their condition, are treated fairly during the recruiting process.

Apart from setting aside five percent of the recruitment slots, the teachers’ employer also gives priority to an applicant’s disability to break a tie during county selection process.

It is also important to note that teachers with disabilities use a different score sheet as shown below;

Awarding of marks for Length of stay since qualifying as a teacher (since graduation)

It is also important to note that the marks for length of stay after graduation has been reduced by a big margin.

Advantage of Communication ability and Co-curricular certificate of participation

One who has a co-curricular certificate of participation will also stand higher chances of scoring more marks. This part is very crucial when it comes to breaking of ties.
