Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has started sending suitability Interview messages for teachers seeking employment with the commission.
A seven-day-county recruitment exercise will take place between Friday 13th January, 2023 and Monday 23rd January, 2023.
Vetting at County Level , Handling of Complaints, Signing of Internship Agreements, Offer of Internship Letters & Signing of Offer of Employment Letters will take place between Tuesday 24th January, 2023 – Tuesday.
The panel will invite the next five best candidates for interviews, which will then be rescheduled, if none of the top five applicants match the requirements.
This complies with the recruitment criteria established by the Commission for teachers, which will be followed as the Commission hires 35,000 teachers.
Successfully recruited Teachers and Teacher Interns will report to their schools on Wednesday 1st February, 2023.
System generated Applicants’ Lists shall be used by the County Selection Panel to shortlist five (5) applicants for every post advertised. Details of the shortlisted applicants, interview dates and venues shall be published on the Teachers Service Commission website.
It is advisable that on the interview day, one to carry the following important documents.
1)The national identity card (ID)
2) Diplomas, degrees, and official transcripts
3) Teacher Registration Certificate (TSC number)
4) KCSE diplomas (including certificates for attempts if one resat exams)
5) The KCPE certificate or an equivalent (together with certificates of attempts in case one re-sits the exams)
6) National Council of Persons with Disabilities (if applicable)
7) Letter of Certification from KNEC for the results (if applicable)
8) An affidavit made in accordance with the Oaths and Statutory Declaration Act, Chapter 15 of Kenyan Laws, to explain the difference in names
9) Bring the following documents with you to your interview:
- A participation certificate if you participated in co-curricular activities while teaching.
- Examination results for students during the last three years
- Evidence of special talent, such as a Certificate of Leadership if you served elsewhere and were recognized for your abilities It is also a good idea to discuss the specifics of your leaving certificate, especially if it provides any additional information to the aforementioned.
Please note that Provisional transcripts won’t be accepted
Recommendation
Academic performance will also be taken into consideration, with those who obtained a first-class honors degree getting 35%, second-class teachers garnering 30%, and those who received a pass acquiring 25% for a degree course. An individual receives 30% for a distinction, 25% for a credit, and 20% for a pass for diploma holders.

To avoid using slang, you must first provide all the relevant information. Be genuine at all times. Don’t close your eyes as you speak; be audible.
(b) Content/Subject Knowledge
Since the interviewer might ask questions related to the subject you are interviewing, you should be well-versed in it.
c) Describe your experience in detail
Starting with recent history. If you have attended more than one university, the most recent one must be the one you attended first

COUNTY DIRECTORS TO SUBMIT REPORTING STATUS BY 28TH FEBRUARY, 2023
The Commission also issued a clarification that applicants who trained in subjects that are now part of the secondary school curriculum are not eligible for recruitment even if they have a postgraduate certificate in education.
Teachers who graduated with the following degree will not qualify:
Bachelor f Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree in Natural Resources,
- Horticulture,
- Fisheries,
- Meteorology,
- Farm Machinery,
- Anthropology,
- Forestry,
- Sociology,
- Biotechnology,
- Animal Husbandry,
- Journalism,
- Theology or Divinity.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has also warned politicians that they have no role in the process of recruitment. This is following fears that politicians may try to interfere with the process of recruitment to favour their preferred areas or individuals.
It has been revealed that some Members of Parliament have been mobilizing unemployed teachers from their respective regions and collecting their information, including copies of their academic credentials.
