Knec sued over 2023 KCPE exam results
Parents of Kitengela International School have filed a case in court contesting the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results.
In an application filed by lawyer Danstan Omari on Monday, November 27, learners and parents want the Form One selection process stopped until its case is heard and determined.
The parents are petitioning the court to block the placement pending an appeal against the Kenya KCPE results released last week by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
Elsewhere, parents of students from Set Green Hill Academy Mixed Day and Boarding and Junior School in Kisii county have also sued the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), seeking similar prayers.
In the court documents, the parents argued that they were dissatisfied with the way her papers were marked, saying that the results had caused their child mental stress.
“She does not understand why there is a marked variance between the marks scores by students at the school in the previous years and marks posted for the year 2023 in the same KCPE examinations as the said does not fall within a reasonable range,” reads court papers.
According to the headteacher of Kitengela International School, the 2023 KCPE results do not reflect the academic abilities of their candidates.
None of the school’s 186 candidates scored 400 marks, and the school’s top candidate scored 358 marks.
