These malpractices encompassed the illicit introduction of unauthorized materials into exam rooms, the presence and use of phones at exam centers, impersonation, and collusion between candidates and exam invigilators.
During a media address while visiting Kolanya Girls National School in Teso North, Busia county, Cs Machogu reported that 46 candidates had been implicated in exam malpractice, primarily due to possessing foreign materials in exam rooms.
He highlighted the success of a multi-agency approach involving the Ministries of Interior and ICT, in addition to the Ministry of Education, in preventing and addressing cheating.
“We have embraced a multi-agency approach in manning these exams and I want to assure the nation that we are going on well, despite a few cases, where nine centre managers were arrested for conspiring to indulge in malpractice,” he said.
Machogu assured the public that the situation had improved due to new measures, such as increasing the number of containers and distribution centers, preventing early exposure issues.
