The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) pays a minimum of Sh34,955 in basic pay per month to newly hired graduate teachers in Kenya. Such a teacher is classified as a Secondary Teacher II and falls under grade C2 (formerly known as Job group K).
In addition to your base pay, you receive allowances. For C2 instructors, you will earn a monthly commuter allowance of Sh5,000. Only one annual payment of Sh6,000 is made for leave benefits. A monthly house allowance of between Sh16,500 and Sh7,000 is given.
The newly hired teacher is required to serve a minimum of six (6) months of probation, as stated in the TSC appointment letter. If the teacher’s performance is subpar, the probationary period may occasionally be extended.
You will automatically advance to job group L, or grade C3, after three years of service. After completing the TSC promotion form, do this.
It’s vital to remember that before your net pay appears in your account, deductions will be made from your paycheck. The deductions are either third-party (loans, savings, and union dues) or statutory (HELB, PAYE, NHIF).
Diploma in education holders receive an entry-level monthly salary of Sh27,195. They are also eligible for a number of benefits.
Primary school teachers begin their careers in education at Grade B5 (Job Group G) and are paid a base pay of Sh21,756 per month.
