The tutors are set to be promoted to the next job group, which means that they will earn higher salaries and other benefits. The TSC CEO has already assured the teachers that plans are underway to ensure promotions are effected fully.

The Teachers service commission has highlighted that C1 teachers are set to be moved to job group C2. Those currently in C2 will be promoted to C3 and finally those in C3 to be promoted to C4 in the coming months. With a budget estimate of about 600 million shillings, the 4595 teachers handling primary school learners who are in job grade C1 will be given promotions to job group C2.

A total of 2637 college  teachers will get promotions from job group C3 to C4. The commission has stated clearly that it has set aside 400 million shillings for the same promotion . The TSC CEO indicated that a promotion comes with a pay rise and more other benefits. She said that teachers deserve the promotions with pay rise for the work they have been doing tirelessly. For the past few months, the Teachers service commission has been racing against the clock to try and fix the teacher shortage in the country.

A total of 35000 teachers were hired this year and deployed to junior secondary schools in the country. However, that number is still not enough as teacher shortage is still being reported. Reports indicate that the commission is planning for another mass recruitment of intern teachers. Once that is announced, we shall update you automatically.
