  • Former Interior Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i has retreated to his Manga farm in Nyamira days after he handed over power to his successor Kithure Kindiki.

    This came days after President William Ruto’s Cabinet Secretary  officially took over the helms of the nations bringing to an end the tenure of retired president Uhuru Kenyatta’s team.

    According to the daily nation Matiang’i, just like his counterparts, is now at his home, where he is, among others, resting and farming.

  • Another source also revealed that the former super CS is considering taking up an international job after his break.

    Matiang’i, a close ally of Uhuru who had a frosty relationship with Ruto, recently handed his instruments of power to the new Interior CS amid smiles and laughter.

    On his last days in the Interior ministry docket, Matiang’i has penned an emotional message to his seniors, colleagues, juniors and Kenyans as he exits office.

    In a letter to the principal administrative secretaries, Inspector general of police, Director of criminal investigations, permanent secretaries and regional commissioners, Matiang’i narrated his five years in office after he took over from the late retired Major General Joseph Nkaiserry on July 17, 2017.

  • “It has been five years and a month of an exciting tour of duty and pleasurable service to our beloved country under the great leadership of His Excellency president Uhuru Kenyatta,” Matiang’i said.
