The Uganda ministry of Health has shared more sad news to its citizens after it confirmed more Ebola virus transmission and deaths.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, September 22, 2022 Ugandan military officer in charge of tracking down Ebola cases contacts in the country confirmed that the virus is rapidly being transmitted.
So far, a total of 8 deaths are under probe to determine whether it was as a result of the deadly virus. The authorities are currently tracking down 43 people who came into contact with one of the patients.
Specialists drawn from the UN have urged the Ugandan government to be very cautious with the Ebola strain as there is no known vaccine of the Sudan strain.
There is no proven vaccine for the Sudan strain of Ebola, and “its very critical at this point that we treat this outbreak as serious, because we may not have the advantage that we have gained in terms of the advancement in medical countermeasures,” said Dr. Patrick Otim, an epidemiologist with WHO in Africa.
