KNEC:Training Opportunities for KCSE Examiners 2023

On Monday, March 6, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) unveiled a training schedule for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examiners.

The training will take place between Monday, April 24, and Friday, April 28, 2023, according to a notice sent by KNEC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), David Njeng’ere.

The Examining Council has stated that this year’s program will be totally residential.

“The venue of the training will be announced to qualified applicants at a later date,” according to the notice seen

“The training fee is Ksh10,500 and will only be paid by the shortlisted applicants, who will be notified through a text message (SMS) on how to make the payment,” the notice read in part.

The council further indicated that all the successful trainees will be incorporated into the KNEC examiners’ database and engaged by the agency through its criteria for recruiting examiners based on each paper’s personnel needs.

However, the Council indicated that teachers already trained as KCSE examiners and in the KNEC database of examiners should not apply.

The teachers are expected to train as examiners in a number of KCSE papers, including ;

  • English (codes 101/1, 101/2, and 101/3),
  • Biology (codes 231/1, 231/2, and 231/3), and
  • Chemistry (codes 233/2 and 233/3).
  • History and Government (codes 311/1, and 311/2),
  • Christian Religious Education (codes 313/1, and 313/2), and
  • Computer Studies (codes 451/1, and 451/2).

The general requirements for all the trainee examiners include the following: 

  1. Must be a practising teacher in the relevant subject area at the level of examination and be registered and employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
  2. Have a Diploma in Education (and above) for KCSE marking and minimum teaching experience of three (3) years.
  3. Must not be on interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action from the TSC.

How to Apply: 

Access the KNEC examiners’ portal using the link www.examinersapp.knec.ac.ke.

Those with Cp2 accounts should log into the portal using their usernames and passwords.

Teachers who would have forgotten their Cp2 passwords should click on the reset password button, enter their mobile number in the format (2547********), and submit to get new passwords for logging into the system.

Those without Cp2 accounts should click on create an account and follow the instructions to acquire login credentials to access the system.

Upon successful login, complete their profile and save. On the dashboard, click on apply for training, and all the declared vacancies will be available for applicants.

KNEC further warned that the training slots were limited, indicating that only qualified teachers who have presented all the required documents will be shortlisted for the exercise.
