KUCCPS latest Updates on Application for University Courses

On Tuesday, March 7, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) maintained that it had yet to officially open the portal for university course applications.

In response to questions from 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates, the agency stated that the portal was not yet open.

The KUCCPS explanation came after a series of false stories claimed that applications for university courses were still being allowed.

The institution also mentioned that the official dates would be announced on its website and social media outlets.

“The portal is not open for application at this time. Once the application dates are decided on, an announcement will be made through the KUCCPS website, our official social media pages and the mainstream media. Kindly keep it here for updates,” read the statement in part.

In regard to the available courses at the universities, KUCCPS added that it was yet to release the list of the courses and the cut-off points required for each course.

“A comprehensive list of courses and institutions will be availed during the application,” KUCCPS stated.

2022 KCSE students are yet to apply and revise their university degree courses despite the results being announced on January 20.

As a result of the delay, a number of false reports surfaced. On February 23, KUCCPS published a statement explaining that the mean grade for entering university had not been raised.

The minimum entry grade for a degree program was maintained by KUCCPS at C+ (plus), while diploma programs were set at C- (minus).

Education CS  Ezekiel Machogu, for his part, claimed that the portal would be online soon to allow 2022 KCSE candidates to join the university on time.

“Placement of university students is supposed to start anytime from now. I am waiting for you to come up with proposals particularly on financing and the other terms of reference as given by President William Ruto,” he stated then
