MoE revised second term, mid-term dates

The midterm break for the second term has been extended, and it will now take place from June 27 to July 1, 2023, according to the Education Ministry’s announcement.

In a circular dated April 24, Education Principal Secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang announced the revisions, adding that their goal is to make it possible for managers to assess how well institutions are managed and how schools are administered.

At first, the midterm break was planned to take place from June 29 to July 2.

Indimuli Kahi, the national chairman of the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA), made the request in a letter dated March 26.

“The Ministry recognizes that the national Kessha conference is an important event that allows school managers to make a review and share experiences in running of schools,” said Kipsang.

The second term was intended to span 14 weeks until August 11, with a mid-term break planned for June. Students will then enjoy a two-week break from August 12 to August 27.

In the academic year 2023, Kenya’s school term dates will return to their regular schedule, with the KCPE and KCSE national exams being administered as usual in November 2023.

There will be a midterm break spanning three days, from September 23 to September 26..
