Ruto Finally Responds to Raila’s Move to Supreme Court to Challenge His Presidential Win

On Wednesday, President-elect William Ruto stated that his team is prepared for any legal challenges to the presidential results.

Ruto stated that the Kenya Kwanza squad is prepared to comply with any legal requirements that may result from their victory.

“If there are legal proceedings, we will participate because we are Democrats who believe in the rule of law,” he stated.

The UDA leader was meeting with all elected Alliance members at the mansion of the Deputy president.

This comes a day after his opponent, Raila Odinga of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance, stated that he would utilize all legal means to contest the results.

Raila stated that IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati erred in announcing the election results without consulting with all Commissioners.

“No one should take the law into his or her own hands. We are pursuing constitutional and legal means to nullify Chebukati’s unlawful and unconstitutional proclamation. We are confident that justice will triumph,” Raila stated while speaking at KICC.

On Tuesday, during a meeting with all elected members of Azimio, the ODM leader stated that they had consulted and authorized the necessary legal processes.

“We briefed them on the presidential elections, and they approved the moves we have decided to take as the Azimio Coalition,”he said.

On Monday, an hour before the president elect announcement, four Commissioners distanced themselves from the election body by stating they did not endorse the choice.
