TSC Promotion Interviews Set to Kick of

TSC Promotion Interviews Set to Kick of

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to conduct promotional interviews to fill the 36,053 vacancies that were advertised in August this year. These interviews will take place in three phases, beginning on December 4, 2023, after the completion of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

Invitation letters for the promotional interviews were sent to shortlisted teachers on October 30, 2023. Candidates are required to present valid Chapter 6 documents before they can be appointed. Here’s an overview of the three phases:

Phase I

– This phase, taking place at the sub-county level from December 4 to 15, 2023, targets promotional Grades C1 to C5 in primary schools.

– Positions include Headteacher in regular primary schools and Special Needs Primary Schools at T-Scale 10, Deputy Headteacher II in regular primary schools at T-Scale 9, Senior Teacher I in regular primary schools and SNE primary schools at T-Scale 8, and Senior Teacher II in regular and SNE primary schools at T-Scale 7.

TSC Promotion Interview Dates

Phase II

– The second phase, conducted at the county level from January 4 to 16, 2024, focuses on post-primary teachers seeking promotions in grades C3 to D1.

– Positions include Deputy Principal III in regular secondary schools at T-Scale 11, Senior Master III in regular secondary schools, Senior Lecturer IV in Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) at T-Scale 9, and Senior Master IV in regular secondary schools at T-Scale 9, among others.

Phase III

– The third phase, to be conducted at regional levels from February 4 to 16, 2024, involves post-primary administrators seeking promotions in grades D2 to D5.

– Positions include Chief Principal in regular secondary schools at T-Scale 15, Senior Principal at T-Scale 14, Principal at T-Scale 13, Deputy Principal II at T-Scale 12, and Senior Lecturer I at T-Scale 12.

The TSC had announced a budget of Ksh2.2 billion to promote teachers at the end of the year, and this move has been well-received by teachers’ unions, who have praised the Commission for addressing the stagnation issues among teachers in various job groups. Vihiga County KUPPET Secretary, Sabala Inyeni, welcomed the decision and urged the TSC to conduct the promotion interviews fairly.
