TSC Teachers Promotion List Per County -2023

The Teachers Service Commission(tsc) has announced the promotion of nearly 16,000 teachers this year based on career progression guidelines.

These promotions took regional balance, gender equity, and affirmative action into account for the country’s arid and semi-arid land counties.

The promoted teachers will fill the following positions in secondary schools: Deputy Principals I and II, Senior Master IV, Head Teachers, and Deputy Head teachers II.

These promotions were dispersed evenly throughout the regions by the commission.

Kiambu County received the highest number of promoted teachers, followed by Kisii, and Kakamega county followed in the third position.

Due to a shortage of Deputy School Heads, Senior Teachers, and Masters in other schools, the teachers’ employer set guidelines for the number of administrators schools should have.

Fortunately, teachers serving in an acting capacity will be given priority during promotions.

TSC promotion interviews will lead to the promotion of 551 teachers overall.

A total of 36 teachers will move from C1 to C2, and 288 teachers will move from C1 to C5.

Another 227 teachers will move from C1 to C5.

In Garissa county, 21 teachers will move from B5 to C1, from C1 to C2, and from C2 to C3.

For this reason, the commission plans to promote an additional 10,021 teachers through affirmative action in places with a shortage of teachers and 13,717 more teachers through competitive promotion in the current Financial year.

To be deployed to JSS, teachers need a Diploma in Education or a Bachelor’s degree in Education, as well as a minimum mean score of C+ on the KCSE or its equivalent.

They should also have a grade of at least C+ and at least 8 units in each of the two teaching classes (plus).

TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia indicated that since 2019, the commission has promoted and transferred primary school teachers to high schools to address the teacher deficit.
