Each category of school
In 2017, the Teachers Service Commission published a new policy on the selection of institution administrators. In primary, secondary, and higher institutions, there administrative positions.
a) Primary schools:
Head teachers, senior teachers, and deputy head teachers
b). Secondary Schools:
Senior Masters/Mistresses, Deputy Principals, and Principals
Each primary school has only one head teacher, and each secondary school has one principal.

The number of administrative roles is dependent upon the curriculum-based establishment(CBE) of the relevant school.The number of administrative posts in each school depends on the number of students.
When a school has two deputies, the administration should be handled by one and the academics by the other. For Special Needs Education (SNE) schools; there shall be a minimum of five (5) senior teachers (primary) and Masters (For secondary schools).This is true regardless of the size and number of students enrolled.
A). CURRICULUM-BASED ESTABLISHMENT ( SENIOR MASTERS/MISTRESSES, AND DEPUTY PRINCIPALS OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS
According to TSC guidelines, the number of administrative positions in secondary schools (including Deputy Principals and Senior Masters/Mistresses) is shown in the table below.
B). Senior Teachers and Deputy Head Teachers of Primary Schools
The number of administrative roles (deputy head teachers and senior teachers) in primary schools, as determined by TSC, is shown in the chart below.

The following Senior teachers’ positions have been established for all primary schools:
a). Social Studies
b). Science and Mathematics
c). Languages
d). Boarding
e). Co- curriculum activities
f). Guidance and Counseling/ Careers
g). Quality Assurance and Standards, QAS
h). Academic/ Mentorship.
II). POSITIONS OF SENIOR TEACHERS IN SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Here are the Senior Teachers’ positions in Special Needs Education, SNE, primary schools:
a). Technical and Creative Arts
b). Boarding
c). Co- Curriculum Activities
d). Guidance and Counseling/ Careers
e). Quality Assurance and Standards, QAS
