Just In: Government Declares Monday a Public Holiday

The government through the ministry of Interior Cabinet Secretary Matiangi has declared Monday, 10th October a public holiday. Kenyans will observe the day as the Utamaduni day where the country celebrates out heritage and culture.

The announcement was made moments ago by the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government.

In a public statement, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i said October 10 will be a public holiday, this will be Kenya’s second Utamaduni day with the first one having been observed last year October 11th

The government has called on Kenyans to celebrate the rich cultural diversity in the country in a manner that promotes unity and economic progress.

Previously, the day was marked as Moi Day before the name was later changed to Huduma Day and later Utamaduni Day.

President William Ruto will preside over the event and this will also be his first public event since he became the head of state.
