The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) is responsible for various aspects of teacher administration, including registration, recruitment, placement, remuneration, promotion and discipline. Additionally, the committee is responsible for maintaining professionalism, ethics and high teaching standards in the teaching service.
These functions are performed by field officers and school directors, who play a central role in teacher management.
It is most important to carefully select, appoint and train suitable individuals to fill leadership positions in educational institutions. This approach is in line with the Commission’s vision, goals and social expectations, ultimately leading to improved performance of educational institutions and reduced instances of discontent and unrest.
To be eligible to lead a post-primary institution, certain qualifications must be met. Prospective candidates are required to be professionally trained university Graduate Teachers, Technical Teachers, or Lecturers employed by the Teachers Service Commission.
These individuals should have demonstrated competence and ability in both classroom teaching and administration, possess a minimum job group M grade, and maintain a clean personal record.
